Saltaire World Heritage Site to Welcome New Housing Development | UK Real Estate News
Green Light for Housing Project
Plans to construct a 290-home project adjacent to the Salts Mill World Heritage Site in Saltaire, on the periphery of Bradford, have received planning approval. The ambitious venture includes a mixed housing scheme with substantial underground parking, allowing for pedestrian walkways throughout the residential area.
Artisan Real Estate’s New Development
Artisan Real Estate, a Leeds-based developer, has set its sights on building the Saltaire Village on an 11-acre plot. This plot, situated between the River Aire and the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, was previously the location of an HMRC office complex. Their plans resemble an excellent example of a well-thought-out Design and Blueprints for Building a Home, ensuring the project’s success.
Additional Features of the Development
As well as residential homes, the project will also include over 5,000 sq ft of small commercial office space designed for flexible working. Additionally, a café overlooking a new ‘pocket’ park and piazza will also be built. The riverside scheme was designed by Yorkshire-based architects Axis Architecture.
Demolition and Construction Timeline
The current seven-storey HMRC building, comprising two large hexagonal office blocks, will be demolished to make way for Artisan’s scheme. The construction on the site is expected to commence in early 2024.
Public Access to Riverside Area
James Bulmer, Development Director for Artisan, described the development as ‘hugely exciting’. The project will dramatically open up a large riverside area that has been closed to the public since the 1970s when the HMRC complex was built.
Artisan Real Estate’s Impact on the UK
Artisan’s proposal for Saltaire Riverside represents another significant addition to its list of sensitive regeneration projects in desirable and historic regional locations across the UK. From their regional offices, they are creating dynamic investment platforms that deliver transformational and sustainable development for the betterment of towns and cities.
A Bright Future for Saltaire Riverside
With these pioneering projects and investments, Artisan has the opportunity to turn the development spotlight firmly on high-quality and sustainable city centre regional development across the UK. The Saltaire Riverside project is set to be a shining example of this commitment.
