Barking Riverside Project: Transforming London's Riverside with New Homes & Jobs
Work Progressing at Barking Riverside
The Barking Riverside regeneration project, a key initiative by Bellway London Partnerships, is in full swing, contributing to the delivery of 10,000 new homes and job creation. The company is currently working on the fourth phase of its Fielders Quarter development, a scheme that began last year on the north side of the River Thames.
West Circus at Fielders Quarter
The latest phase, named West Circus at Fielders Quarter, will see the introduction of 229 new properties, including 108 affordable homes. This scheme is part of a larger effort by Bellway to deliver 1,000 homes within the wider Barking Riverside project. The development not only brings a new housing community but also a new retail space designed to engage residents and visitors alike.
Economic and Social Impact
Commenting on the project, Dominic Griffiths, Head of Sales for Bellway London, stated that the project is causing a ripple effect of economic benefits for the area. In addition to job creation, Bellway is also working closely with the Barking and Dagenham Council to provide training opportunities and is supporting schools and communities through an outreach programme.
Revitalizing Barking Riverside
Barking Riverside is a landmark project set to transform a 443-acre former industrial site, previously home to the decommissioned Barking Power Station. The development plans include commercial and leisure spaces, new schools, public open spaces, riverside walks and a cycle superhighway, all designed to breathe new life into the area.
Connecting Community and Enhancing Wellbeing
At the heart of the development is a £40m Wellbeing Hub, featuring a GP surgery, gym, and water park. Further fostering community spirit, The Wilds Community Centre will offer a range of activities, events, and classes for residents. The development is ideally located within walking distance of the new Barking Riverside Overground station and the Uber Boat service at Barking Riverside Pier, providing easy access to central London.
